Any peavey fans left?
I am still using my old peavey amps. I started with them many moons ago and never could make the break away to Fender. Loving life with my trans bandit 112 and 110 efx. Any peavey gurus left?

I'll field this one: Yes! I have 3 Bravos, a rack setup that features a TubeFex, 2 T-15s, and a Patriot. Yeah, I know you were aiming at amps, but I just had to bring up Peavey guitars. My next amp will be a Triple X head and Classic 412ES cab. That's a sweet combination with a Tele. Very good classic rock sound and that combination will also give a Twin a run for it's money.
Do I own any non-Peavey amps? Yes, I have an Ampeg Reverberocket head and 412 cab as well as a Fender Blues DeVille 212. BTW, if you can find one, try out a Peavey Limited USA guitar. They are very nice. Very Anderson-like and about half the price. |

I played Peavey amps for 20 years but switched to Fender amps in the late 1980's.I like the Delta Blues and the Classic 50 410 amps very well.I use a 1969 Super Reverb now but wouldn't mind using a Classic 50 410 as a backup as it also has a great clean tone.

My PV XR600C and 112DL spkrs are a great lo-bux PA setup. I mean in a good way. I like the PV 50 classic - I'd own it before a new Marshall or Vox.

You rang???
But of course; '78 Peavey Classic, Studio Pro (most under rated solid state amp in the last 30 years) and
last but L-O-U-D-E-S-T ....my Butcher otherwise known as "The Amp That Sends DSL's and TSL's Back To The Store". And you know what else? Peavey makes the most reliable Monster Amps...period.

I've been playing on a Bandit 112 for 12 years, and never had any desire to get a new amp. I finally got one for over 10x the price and love it, but it doesn't sound 10x better. The Bandit is a marvel; for a $100 amp that is loud, comparatively light, has a good clean channel and incredible distortion channel, reverb, and is indestructable, how can it not be?

I have a Classic 51 2x12 (faux tweed) that I just love!
...but i haven't played it much in the last several weeks since i picked up my '70 SFDR! I doubt that I'll ever get rid of the Peavey though! It's a totally different animal than the Fender deluxe reverb...in a good way.

I REALLY like the Classic series amps
but I don't have one yet, I'm such a Fender junkie. Honestly, it's like a drug or something. I have a Marshall and an Ampeg itch I haven't scratched yet, but I have a SFVR, a Champ and TWO kinds of Broncos. Hey, all my amps are Fenders!
And I didn't even have a Tele until last fall. Something is definitely wrong with my thinking. Oh wait you were talking about Peaveys. I'd love to have the 1x15 Delta Blues. Sorry for the ramble. dB |

I've got a PV "Artist"
with its 4 6x6's. Wish I could take 2 of em out and get down to 60 watts. It's got a 12" Black Widow, anyone know of a 'better' choice( if there IS one) that can handle the wattage?
Curious..... PB P.S. My 'other' amp is a Super Twin.... The heat will keep you warm on a COLD winter night..... 8) 8) |

The bravo is one of peavey's coolest little amps. Most look at it and think "typical SS peavey" Wrong -o - rooney! I've worked on a dozen or so and always fall back in love with 'em each time. Peavey has always made great affordable amps w/no respect. Another "dog" amp I love is the Seymour Duncan 8440 in either 2-10 or 1-12 config. Some folks say they are built cheap, I disagree. With normal DECENT care, they are twice as reliable as an original Vox AC-30. (my all-time fav. amp in the world) |

Don't laugh till you've tried one, but I have a Peavey Wiggy that I'm completely in love with. It's a 'love or hate' amp for sure. It's unique look is one thing, but the tones in this amp are what really count. Very effects friendly too. I liken the amp as a 'tone modeler.' Sparkling cleans for country or jazz, nice 'dirty' tones for rock/classic rock, and all kinds of tones in between. A fun amp to have if you like twisting knobs and experimenting with tones. The longer I own it, the more I like it.
Peavey's Classic series amps are nice too. As is the Delta Blues. Their newer stuff, the Triple XXX and JSX amps, are incredible as well. I give a big thumbs up to Peavey for continuing to make quality gear at an affordable price. |

My Main Gig Amp........
Is a Peavey Classic 50 head through a Celestion loaded 2x12. I only use the clean channel and run a pedalboard through the front and a Qurdraverb Plus through the effects loop. I like it and it is very reliable. I have played around with the OD channel buts its all or nothing distortion, so I use my Jeckyl & Hyde instead. I also have a Fender Blues DeVille that is 10 years old and still use it a lot too.

Curious..... PB I had two of these back in the early 80's. Great amps! Sold one and gigged with the other for years till bad wiring in an old, old roadhouse club fried it. Sad day. Maybe an old JBL, Altec or EV would handle the power.

Classic 30
I use it mainly for rehearsals and home playing. Moving to a house in the country soon....no neighbours = loud guitars
I just love that Peavey top end sound, better for my ears than the spiky Fender highs. Still love my Fender amps too but in different ways.

Reliable???
Made lots of gigs/road miles with mine!!! I used a Bandit 112 for for almost 15 years & just recently bought a Classic 30. I'll admit the Classic 30 is built cheaply, but a tone circuit mod & speaker replacement has it sounding like a much more expensive tube amp.

my 2 cents :
I've owned the Peavey Studio Pro 20, the Peavey Special 130 and currently the Classic 30. I also have a Fender Blues, Jr ; Carvin Master tube 212 and a Boggie .22 . Each amp has a guitar that sounds best with it - I generally get better sounds with Humbuckers thru the C30, and it has a very warm clean channel - different flavor than the Fender. Of course the Reverb sucks on all my amps except the Fender, and nothing sounds better than my Tele thru the Blues,Jr. You get a real different point of view when you mix & match guitars & amps. Peavey is good but it's no Fender. :)

I just finished re-tubing one of my Bravos aiming for a very clean Clean channel. I put a low gain ECC83S (12AX7) in V1 and an ECC81 (12AT7) in V2.The lo gain ECC83s really improved the Clean channel. It and the even lower gain ECC81 made the boost more usable on the Ultra channel. I'd put this amp up against anything out there. Well, I'd do that with any of my Bravos, but this one in particular. Next up for this amp? An Eminence Red Fang speaker. |

$59.95!!
Anyone read the review in March GP of the new Peavey Backstage? Pretty glowing isn't it? At $59.95 (street) it looks like a winner.
I personally am having alot of fun with small amps; Peavey Studio Pro 110, Japanese Fender Sidekick Reverb 30, TM10, and Epiphone Galaxie 10. Easier to push to that point of greatness and the low volume makes for such a sweet sound. My strat with the Fat 50's really shows off on these and my Supros with a brass slide crank out so much voltage into the inputs, I just can't stop playing. |

Currently I have a Peavey XR600C PA head, and two 112 TLS cabs for it. I also have the Classic 50 head and matching 410E cab, and a Classic 20. I love 'em all! Over the years I've had a Classic 50 2x12, and also the 4x10, and many years ago I had the Duece with the built in phase shifter (oooo - ahhh). The only one that I didn't like, or had any trouble with was the Duece.

EFX258 and somekind of keyboard amp
The EFX258 (SS) is a great amp for practice and is probably my favorite amp, had to trade up because it couldn't cut it volume wise but if you need something to play at home and not wake up the neighborhood this one to try for $189!
At church we have a 4 channel keyboard amp that our bass player plugged into last night and we are doing away with our GK bass amp it sounded so good. I also ran a Cyberdeluxe through it in stereo while he played bass and it sounded great to get the full stereo effects of the CD. I was able to overdrive the speakers with the guitar volume and enjoy the stereo delay! |

I just recently got my Peavey Classic 30 and am fairly impressed with it. It's my first tube amp I've actually owned as well.
When it comes to tube amps, I've played through some really nice amps....some hard-wired boutique amps and some modern tube amps. Peavey has a got some great affordable tube amps and I think they're a great substitute if you can't quite afford a Fender tube amp. However, you do sacrifice some things. I've played a few of the modern Fender amps and I'm actually not impressed with them as the older ones. MusicMan amps are great as well, if you can find one. In the end, I think my C30 will appease me and my needs for quite some time.

My first amp was a Peavey and I have had several other makes since. I do like the Fender stuff but I seem to keep coming back to Peavey amps. I had a Peavey head with all kinds of weird effects in it with 412 Peavey cab, Backstage 50, Bandit 65,Classic VT series 212, Stereo Chorus 212 and now I have a Classic 30 which I love dearly. I have only had it about a month or so. |
