Amp Pricing?

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good web resources to price vintage amps. Got a '54 Tweed Deluxe I might have to part with but I'm having a hard time figuring out what it's worth, the only I've been able to tell is that I probably paid too much (what else is new?).

Thanks

that's the beauty of e-bay....you can see what folks are willing to pay for pretty much anything.....usually e-bay reflects what one player is willing to pay another player....dealer sites and gbase usually reflect the higher prices a dealer is able to charge....

Consignment

Yeah, that's why I'm leaning towards consigning it with a local dealer, might be able to squeeze a little more of what I paid out of it.

not in my experience.....you'll usually give a dealer 20-25% for a consignment....which usually leaves you with less then you'd get from e-bay or an outright sale...

but...

it also means you don't have the hassle of dealing with buyers or shipping or all the other stuff that goes with selling stuff.....

i personally tend to lean towards consigment on stuff like amps...i'd rather not deal with the hassle even tho' i end up with a little less cash.....

The house that I built

Believe me, I've put at least one of my dealer's kids through college.....that's gotta be worth a reduced cut.

pricing that Tweed

There are always a few Tweeds on eBay. To see what they have been selling for click the "search"tab--new screen comes up...click "advanced search" tab---new screen comes up...in the title block type the item (tweed deluxe) that you are investigating. Also click the box for "completed items"...click the "go" tab & data from the previous 2 weeks comes up. In a couple weeks, go through the same process & you'll then have an idea of what people are willing to pay for such an item. Condition is what really counts....if it is pristine, it willl bring a sweet price; but if it's kinda rough expect a lot less.Consignment is not recommended!!! A dealer will usually ask you what you have to get out of it. If you say $500 & they sell it for $600, you get $500. However, if they sell it for $1800, you still get $500.
Lotsa Luck, Keifer
