Have you retained the original wiring. I dropped a new plate in with a 4 way switch - oh boy!

Now I'm really lucky in being able to play this baby through a variety of vintage tweed and others I've collected - 54 & 56 Champ, 55 Tremolux, 65 Champ, 56 Gretsch Artist, Kit Built Tweed Deluxe and a handful of Australian valve amps and it sounds fantastic every time (believe me this guitar makes a schmuck like me sound half way decent)!

I love the neck and weight on my relic - definitely a keeper. It's amazing how many of my friends pick it up for the first time and get what I call that Nocaster grin.

As you said pedalcr8z ...it just doesn't get much better!

Do you also have or had a Victoria deluxe, I thought you posted that you did.
If so, how do they compare to the Fender Deluxe?

Good memory! I went from the Fender to the Victoria which certainly has more headroom as they are using a 12AY-7 which I never changed to an AX7 for a fair comparison but from what I could tell I prefer the break up characteristics of the Fender and it appears to be smoother and it rides that fence of clean/breakup with more touch sensitivity. I use either a Nocaster or a Collings 290 with Lollar P-90's.
I also had a Double Deluxe for a while which was simply too much for home use......loved the cleans but it simply was too loud to get up into the break up zone. While I am enamored with the Deluxe the other side of my brain needs more headroom so either a DRRI, a SRRI or a Vibro King may be in my near future......from a price/value standpoint it sure is hard to beat a DRRI though.
