Found a Princeton Chorus

Found a Princeton Chorus with a two button foot switch on Clist for $200. Is this a decent price for this amp? Any idea what vintage would this be?
Serial no LO655677.

I've been batting around what kind of practice amp to get and most are in this price range. I like country/rockabilly/classic rock and thought this may do what I want for a while. Picking an amp has been kicking my butt. Too many choices!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say it's an average price. It appears to be in really good condition. Locally, I see these going from $175-250. depending on condition and whether it includes the footswitch. Antique Electronics Supply has the replacement footswitches, but I believe they run aroung $50.

Yours appears to be a later model, possibly MIM. The earlier versions had red knobs. I'm afraid that's all I can tell you about the age.

Are you sure? I've seen one offered here for about the same amount.
The vendor specified it as a "USA made" one, predating the "red knob" ones...

Now I'm a bit confused...

I had one in the early 90's... I'll be darned if I can remember now what color the knobs were... sorry about no help there!

But I will say that 200 bucks might be on my upper edge for buying one. It's a decent solid state amp. The chorus is very nice. But for Country/Rockabilly? I'm not so sure. In all honesty I think you'd be better off saving a little bit more dough and buying a SuperChamp XD. It's got more of that available blackface/brown clean w/ a hitn of breakup that's associated with Rockabilly and Country. I will say that the distortion channel of the Princeton Chorus was never really my bag either. But clean it was nice... kinda Jazzy as I recall.

I will admit that I keep my eyes open for one of these. But I'm not paying anywhere near 200 bucks for it. I'm really only buying ti for nostalgia's sake though... It wouldn't be my only amp.

I bought one brand new in the early 90's. Mine was US made and had black knobs. I sold mine last year in mint shape for $250.00.Still had all the original paper work and everything. Hope this helps. lexx

I have considered the Super Champ, Vox VT30, cube 30X, G-DEC, Spiderjam, VoxJam, Marshall MG30DFX and on and on and on.... lol

I do have an old Sunn Sonaro Bass amp my dad gave me. Works pretty good but no bells and whistles.

I have a red knob version, what ever that means. It's ok with my hb equipped guitars. It leaves a bit to be desired with my single coils. It's not something I can describe, I just can't get that tone in my head out of it.

I'm much happier with my Classic 30.

About the red knobs? Absolutely. I was a Fender dealer from '84 to '89. I got a PC from their first shipment. It had red knobs, as did all Fender amps at the time. Not sure when production was moved offshore. That was much later (maybe '95?).
