Calling all Ampeg J-20 Owners!

I need your advice on a speaker to replace the stock speaker in my Ampeg J-20. When I really start to crank this amp the speaker flubs out a bit, and I'm looking for something with a bit more headroom (the amp is 20W and the speaker is rated at 20W)

Right now I'm looking at a few different speakers.

Eminence Red Fang
Eminence Wizard
Cannabis Rex
Hellatone 30

any suggestions?

I have that amp, and I haven't changed the stock speaker, but I have run it into an extension cab with a Vintage 30 in it and it was pretty awesome.

I was also looking at the Vintage 30 a bit. Can you describe the change of the sound a bit from the stock speaker to the V30?

I've got the J-20 and think the speaker kinda sucks. I'll definitely replace it at some point, and I'll probably just put in a Celestion Gold. A bit more money than some of the others mentioned, but when it comes to speaker swaps I know that if I want to get it right the first time, a Celestion Gold or Blue is a good option, and the wattage of the amp is too much for a Blue.

V30 would be too dark with that amp IMO.

That's what I was also thinking as well. It would sound better with something else.

So are you guys still digging you j 20's? I'm not satisfied with my Gibson GA 5 (too dark of an amp; only my Fenders sound good w/ it) totally GASsing for one. Pros? Cons?
