Weber Alnico Sig 12 and Sig 12S - anyone compare them vs. Jensen P12R

I'm looking for a less efficient and warm speaker which handles overdrive well for my 18 watt Ampeg Reverberocket II.

Considering a Weber Alnico Sig 12 or Sig 12S

I had a reissue Jensen P12R (I think the cone was ribbed) and the volume and headroom and overdrive were perfect -- the only problem was it was very bright and had too much flub in the low end.

I have also had a Weber 12F150 (25 watt; no dope) Sounded beautiful clean but had way too much headroom and was very harsh when overdriven

The Reverberocket is currently loaded with an Eminece Cannabis Rex which has very full and rich tone and sounds equally well clean and overdriven. The problem is it is a very loud speaker and I can't get the volume past noon even in a loud band situation

I guess I'm looking for something very similar to the P12R in tone but not as bright -- something less efficient so I can get the amp up louder and where the speaker also adds some color and distortion.

I have.

The P12R is a wimpy POS speaker IMO. The P12Q is much better, but still has some of the flub when pushed. I think the Weber Sigs blow away the Jensens, but be aware that the 12S is the Jensen equivalent--the plain 12 will break up MUCH earlier and not have nearly as sweet a clean tone. The 12S has the pure cleans and then just gets the nasty (in a good way) blues od when pushed.

Thanks Hoodster, how bright is the 12S is it the same as the Jensen P12R or is it slightly warmer?

I've since sold both but I would say the Weber is warmer from memory, yes. I have an alnico sig 10S now, which is of course the 10" version, and it's a great speaker--which I have also compared to the P10R.
