Reverb tank tricks/mods ?????

I was given an old Randall amp and the reverb tank springs rattle all over the place so before tightening them up or replacing them I was wondering if there are any cool mods/things you can do to a spring reverb ?

I searched and didn't see any related threads, and frankly never gave much thought about about how they work... Are the signal levels going in-out pretty standard between amps (ie can I mix and match with other tanks I have around) ?, or is it vendor and or model specific ?

Thanks in advance for any info!
