US to UK (European) Amp conversion

Guys

I know us Brits have gloated mercilessly about the favourable exchange rate, but at the moment we're getting nearly 2 US Dollars for every British Pound (well, $1,847 today).

So with a few things starting to go my way, I got to thinking about a Fender Blues Junior amp or a small amp kit, and I can pick either up relatively cheaply (exchange rate, blah, blah...) on your side of the pond.

So, assuming no amp knowledge, what would need to be changed? I'm well aware of the voltage difference. But what else?

Assume no amp knowledge but basic skills to be able to assemble guitars (see my www) but be assured that I would seek expert advice as I know lots of nasty, high voltages can build up inside an amp of this sort. Also assume that all the required replacement parts can be obtained here in the UK

Is this idea a flyer? Or am I better of sulking and paying British Pounds for something I can plug straight in (where's the fun in that? :D )?

All you need is a step up transformer from 110V to 230V.

Any competent tech or electrician will sort this out for you.

I suggest you ring Chandlers or one of the other highend shops in London, who should be able to fill you in on local contacts, prices etc

I just read this again and realised that I said the opposite of what I meant(and not for the first time!)

You actually need a 230V/110V stepdown transformer
