Dual amp experiment last night .. daddy likes ;)
Been using my Marshall 2204 1/2stack (master volume amp) as my main rig lately. I get a nice AC/DC crunch outta it. But been wanting to fatten the sound up and get a second guitarst-like feel for song sections and leads.
So last night i wired in my Morley ABY box and my '68 Super Reverb. I plugged into the Normal channel which has been modded to a tweed pro type of circuit. a very thick midddy and ballsy tone. (the vibrato channel is stock BF circuit)
used the Marshall exclusive for rhythm. then engaged the Y for both amps for leads and some sections that could use some extra drive. MAN!! did it sound huge! and well ... loud! but we're a hard rock band.
the guys were really amazed by it. the biggest problem is the Super is just wickedly loud! open back cab really fills the room. and being nonMV mp its hard ot control the vol. I ended up putting a TS-9 infront of that amp to help control the oveall volume. which helped.
anyhow a good experiment. I will bring my MASS in next time to help control that amp a bit better. and for Live, try to separate the amps for a stereo effect. THis really gives a 2 guitarist type of effect and more 3D sound, esp since both amps are voiced so differently.
