"Solid" Cabs................... Why Not? Marshall
I have been looking around at alot of amps (Why not, it's fun)... I notice the "Germino" amps...They have a real nice 2X12 Combo.... It uses a ply cabinet.
Did Marshall use PLy in their vintage combo's? I have a 3X10 "Clark" ext. cabinet made of "solid thin pine.... Man it sounds alive! If I smack my hand on the side of the cabinet it sounds like a loud Drum. I liked the Germino .. but why not use a "lighter" more alive cabinet? I imagine solid cabs is more of a "high end" snob Trend. But in my eyes it's a must. any ideas ..is it to keep cost down, sound the same or a marshall tradition? regardless , it's a fine amp. |

Ever since building my first uncovered solid pine cab, did I realize what the missing link in my setup's sound was all about - those cabs will dance with tone enhancement, IMO. YMMV.
