Fender Blues, Jr

bought a BJR recently and am generally happy with the fender tone. Not quite as happy with the reverb (though it does sound better than the reverb in my Peavey Classic 30 or Boogie .22).
Has anyone tried changing out the reverb tank ?
Is it even possible to fit a larger/better one?

or is there a good sounding outboard reverb I could use (without an effects loop)?

in other threads I heard some disatisfaction with the stock speaker - any recommendations on what may sound better?

A full size tank will not fit. You can get a replacement short tank with different verb characteristics and try that. Other than that, learn to love it.

I solved the reverb problem by buying a Fender RI outboard reverb. of course, it cost more than the blues jr -- but I have several other non-verb amps, so it made sense. these things really do sound great. the holy grail seems to be well-thought-of, too. I had a little lanilei pedak for a while but it was the short tank, too.

or you can put the blue dog in and replace the tubes with JJs and turn the reverb off. it seems weird to me, too -- but a good-sounding el34 amp just doesn't seem to need reverb.

KC..........didn't think of getting a Fender outboard reverb. do they still make them? didn't see on their web site. Do you just plug the guitar into the reverb then run the output into BJR instrument input?
does anyone else make an outboard reverb tank? maybe one that I could wire the existing tanks' lead to ? I'm sounding like an electrocution waiting to happen 1

get a Holy Grail, best reverb on the market if reverb is your thing....AND CHEAP 8)

Yep, the Holy Grail is probably the best sounding reverb pedal on the market.

Still, the Fender tube reverb sounds better.

hey bongo: the fender reverb goes between the guitar & amp, softens up the high end a little but with a telecaster who's going to notice?

these things sound terrific but if you play with a lot of distortion they don't -- distorted reverb is nasty. then you need an amp with an effects loop.

I love mine -- $300 new a while ago, more than that now but wait for a sale. good luck.
