Hot Rod Deville 2x12...

Has anyone ever tried putting Celestion Blue alnicos in one of these? I know the speakers cost almost as much as the amp...but its only temporary until I can save up for something better. Then I can always use these for an extra cab! I play mostly country and I've heard a lot about these speakers being "The Guitar Speaker"
Any advice??

DON'T DO IT!

The amp is rated at 60 watts while the Blues at 15w each...you could easily blow them up.I have blown one in a vox ac30 cause I turned the amp all the way up...

thanks...

I spoke with a guy who sales Celestion and said I shouldn't have a problem as long as I got the 8 ohm speakers. I guess he was just filling me full of BS to try and make a sale.

Does anyone have any other suggestions on what brand would work for a HRDeville? Eminence just doesn't do it for me, so this will be the first time I've changed out speakers.

I put Celestion Greenbacks in my DeVille and they seemed to tame this amp down a bit, less harshness to the highs, and I think, but I'm not sure, that the Greenbacks are a less efficient speaker than the Eminence speakers that Fender put in them. So my DeVille seems to be not as LOUD as it was with the old speakers, and that is a good thing for me because I can turn it up a little more and start to get some tube distortion without causing a visit by the Cops.
