I didn't see it on the website...

Wouldn't a Twin w/ 15 inch speakers be a Dual Showman???

2X15's in a combo !?!?!?......JBL's ?!?!?!?
sounds like a HERNIA to me.....I'll pass.
Fender already has a winner in the Twin Reverb they
just need to start using PTP boards and LOSE the "cyber"
the "pro-line" and yes "The custom chop" and get back to building "Harley Davidsons". The "Hot Rod" line is good enough for all the rice rocketeers. Plus they'll still
have their S/S for people who like disposable lighters.

It's a single 15" like the Vibrasonic/Vibrosonic using the Reissue Twin chassis and pcb.

Now I'm REALLY confused....

It's no longer a "Twin", but a single.

Those amps were called a Vibrosonic Reverb (or was it Vibrasonic) back in the SF era. Popular for steel players. It's cool that FMIC has reissued the amp, but why didn't they call it by it's "proper" name? I suspect they didn't want to spend the money for a new faceplate silkscreen.

Tremo - it is strange...about 6 years ago Fender made the "Custom Vibrosonic" with Steel and Normal Channels. Seems like this is essentially the same amp, so there would be some kind of faceplate template still around.

My guess is that the "Twin" name is more marketable.

There's a "sweet switch" on

the Custom Vibrosonic that's a really nice feature for
geetars with Varitones (ES-345's&355'S)....I wonder
what's involved in creating a "Sweet Circuit" on a
Silverface Twin/Showman TFL5000D/Quad Amp ??

I'm pretty sure the sweet switch is just a 47pF bright cap instead of the brighter/harsher 120pF. That's one mod I did to a friend's RI TR - it makes the bright switch behave more like the bright cap on a DR or the earlier Brownface & late tweed amps which usually had 47pF caps.

I think the Custom Vibro also has reverb on both channels an may have been 100watts instead of 85. In any case the schematic should be on Fender's Mrgearhead site.

If it uses the current Twin Reverb RI chassis it must be PCB

...not good. Why not make it PTP like their current '64 Custom Vibroverb and new Tweed Twin?? Maybe it would have been too similar to the (PTP) '64 Custom Vibroverb?

It most likely has limited market appeal and would cost too much. One problem people overlook regarding PtP RI's is the cost of originals. Why would you spend $2K for a TR-RI when you can get a real deal BF in great shape for about the same price??? That wasn't the case with the BF Vibroverb, whose price is going thru the roof. Maybe when BF DR's hit $3500, they'll do a PtP version...

Different amp completely. The Vibroverb is a +/- 40 watt *guitar* amp; the Twin/15 is a 100 watt amp with more appeal to steel players or folks who want a huge, clean sound.

The original '59/'63 Fender amp was the Vibrasonic. CBS reissued it in '72 as the 'Vibrosonic.'

Both were/are popular with steel players, and I wouldn't be surprised if the 15" speaker masks some of the sonic issues with pcb boards.

That said, they could have built a BF Vibroverb RI using the Super Reverb RI pcb stuff. I'm not sure why they hardwired it unless they plan on doing other limited runs of 2-6L6 BF reissues. That'd be easy, because the BF Vibroverb is just a 2-6L6 BF chassis with a 15" speaker.

BTW, it's based on the 85-watt Twin-Reverb RI chassis, not the modern rendition, the 100-watt Twin-Amp.
