SF Champ with outboard reverb

How well would an external reverb (thinking of an EH Holy Grail) work between the guitar and input on a SF Champ?

Given that the Champ gives up the goods at a fairly low volume, would the reverb be too distorted, at least to the point where the result wouldn't sound good?

If anyone's tried this I'd love to hear what you think.

I used a Grail pedal with my tweed deluxe for a long time and was a believer, and I still use it to rehearse, and i gives a satisfying tone.
But after switching to an outboard tube unit (by Winnie Winfield) I'll never go back.
It's not just the sound of the reverb itself, the guitar sound coming ou of the amp is much more musical.

I ran it this way........ An Alesis Microverb in front of the amp input. I used a lower gain 12AY7 preamp tube, which cleaned up the tone and gave me much more usable knob travel before breakup.

Actually, I ran the amp fully dimed most of the time and just controlled overdrive strictly from my guitar's volume knob...... That was the beauty of using a lower gain preamp tube in the Champ.... It makes playing this amp really responsive and fun.
