i jes' picked it up yesterday, so far it's capable of quite a wide range of tones and textures, though i haven't found a bad sound yet... Last edited by maestrovert; October 23rd, 2008 at 07:48 PM. |

Rebel 20 Orange 1 x 12
I bought the little Rebal as well and its blows the Tiny Terror away more versitility and the thing cuts through without having to jack up the gain all the way and distorting everything. I bought the Egnater 1 x12 but the Orange 1x12 is a much better cab for this head. The difference is unbelieveable it mus be the Cel vintage 30 compared to the Elite 80 what ever that is.

Yes this thing is crazy I believe you can get the warm AC30 Clean which what Im sure your after. I think the Cab is going to make a hugh difference I played it through a Marshall Handwired 2 x 12 low wattage and it was good but not great the Orange 1 x 12 was amazing. The low wattage knob is sick though I feel like the volume difference isnt that great. The Tube blender is cool to allowing you to use just 6V^ or EL84 or a combnation of both and it has an effects loop. If it had an addtional channel it would be perfect..

Does anyone know how they implemented the power control? Is it a soak, or something like the London Power Scaling system used on the Suhr Badger?
Either way, this amp looks VERY interesting to me. I've been wanting something small and light, with one good channel and an effects loop.

I sell lotsa stuff on eBay.
I just played through one of these today and was very impressed. If I bought one I would use an open back cab I have already. Maybe that would give it a little more of a shimmery tone? I love AC30's - way too expensive but the Rebel does a good job at getting in the ballpark with the AC30 tone when you crank the EL84s all the way on. Wish it had reverb though. |

I tried one of these the other day. I liked it but found that the gain hit a point at about 2:00 that turned instantly in to distortion. It was real gradual until that point. I don't know if it was just the amp I was playing or if they are all the same.
The amp cleans up really nice when you back off the guitar volume. To me, the best tones were a 50/50 mix of the the tubes. I didn't buy it.......yet. I still need to sell my 64 blond Bandmaster.

I noticed that Egnater is a licensed Power Scaling user (list on the London Power site), but his site is really not clear on what technology he is using on the Rebel. |

I have one working its way over the Rockies in a UPS truck as I write this.
I'm hoping for a good measure of clean headroom. I'm also hoping to hear a range of other good tones. I'm definitely not looking for a super high-gain amp. It only passes the test if it sounds excellent with my band. I'll post a review once I get to try it out for a bit. |
