what do you guys think of the cyber twin SE?

I haven't played it yet, but I've seen videos of it in action, sounds prettey good.

it is a tube powered digital modeling amp that models all the popular fender amps and has lots of effects.

check it out, if anyone has used this, can you give me your 2 cents about it?

most of the reviews online are good, but some say the tone is too bright.

Sounds are pretty good. The one I auditioned had some funky rattle sounds that the salesman attributed to a crappy pre-amp tube. The effects were serviceable....but nothing special...but it was a way to get some of the standard tones in a simple way. It can get pretty darn loud.....but I didn't think it really sang when driven like a real twin does (actually, real twins scream REALLLY loud....and sound amazing. You just need to be in another room to appreciate it).

Personally, it's not a favorite. For the $$$, I think there are better choices.

I got the first gen when it came out a while back. I liked it a lot and you can get some truly sweet tones from it, but it's not really a tube powered amp like the salesman says. Tubed preamp, but won't give you the sweet clipping of a pair of power tubes.

And since it's basically a computer inside a hot box there not reliable enough for me to consider gigging with. Those preamp tubes get hot and I had mine in the shop several times because solders were going bad.

It's also true about cranking it and not being impressed. But on the other hand, it sounds great at low levels.

If it's going to be your main rig you'd probably be better off with a true tube amp and a handfull of stompboxes.

I have a First Edition Cybertwin which is now put aside for my Crate V-18 112with 5 stompboxes. It's cool, but for me you just can't beat a true tube.
