Mesa Boogie Blue Angel, Opinions Please.I
I have a chance to buy one mint for 800.00. Any real life expierience? Sounds good at the store but they all sound different when you get them home. I use Tele's and strats and play blues and fusion type jazz. I would appreciate any comments from any users. Thanks, John

I'm mostly replying to give your thread a bump, but I have played Blue Angels in the store and I like them a lot. I think they have a really nice sweet clean tone and an excellent reverb. I like the idea of the 3 levels of power and 2 kinds of power tube, but I believe they are quite heavy because of that and it seems like a lot of tubes to replace when the time comes.
Again, I really like the clean sound a lot. I use a Mesa Maverick for most gigs and they have a similar clean sound, IMO. Even most people that don't care for the Mesa distortion channel, usually like the Maverick clean sound. To me, it's a nice round balanced clean tone that's not as hollow sounding as a Fender clean. Not that it's better or worse, that's just how I perceive their differences and I prefer the Maverick/Blue Angel. On several discussion sites, those that own them are very happy with them. I hope someone that uses them live will chime in. |

I'll concur wth UncleJarmo. My experience with the Blue Angel comes from running sound for a band using one. The guitar player was great, and his pushed clean sounds were very nice, but when I commented, he told me that he still preferred his aging Super Reverb, but left it in the studio because of it's age and condition.
I'd say that yes, it is a little rounder sounding overall. Still in the Fender camp, but definantly it's own sound. For $800 I'd honestly rather put money down on the used Vibro King ($1500) at my local GC (even if it is at GC).
