great ptp amps, made in belgium!
i want to take some time to tell you all about a guy in Gent, Belgium who is making excellent point to point tube amps. i'm not affiliated in any way. i'm into building effect pedals myself and soon will build my first amp. and this is the guy where i get parts and components. his amps are amazing! and not overprized at all.
this is his site: http://www.freeqi.be/home.html i've played his bassman, A/B-ed it with my fender 59LTD. his ptp amp is much smoother clean and overdriven. the fender sounds harsh when clean in comparison and when trying to tame the harshness gets mudy. when overdrive the fender sounds like a fuzz... the FAD has a creamy, rich overdrive, with definition. i was blown away by the difference! then i plugged into a 5E3. great amp! a switch was added that alows for much more clean headroom, while retaining the 5E3 clean tone. makes for a versatile 5E3 and a lot cheaper than the custom shop fender. especially if you take into account that you can have the guy fine tune the amp. more treble/bass/mid, less gain etc... he'll tune it till you love it and you can try out any and every speaker he has in stock in your amp. his 5E3x2 was equally great... very transparent, creamy cleans, and a crisp overdrive with lots of definition. great amp. his champ convinced me to finally take the plunge and build one myself. great tone from such a simple circuit. add to this that you can by any component at great prices, and that he is a weber (speaker) dealer... i feel lucky this guy is in my town! :-) again, no affiiation! just great amps for teleplayers!

Great looking amps and they were not pricey at all. I bet they sound awesome too.....
Well I guess I have to go to Belgium and try the FADMAN (Bassman clone). Thanks for bringing this up cause I was looking for european bassman clones and this seems to be a great choice. /Ubbe

he uses/used weber cabinets & chassis but that's it.
transfos are mercury mag, all components are premium brands etc... they look a little like webers because of the cabs & chassis, but they aren't. you ain't to far away walter, you should swing by the guys shop some time! he is, btw the go to guy if you need anything from weber... i bought my cabinet, chassis and speakers from him, it's all weber stuff. prices were really good. again, i'm NOT affiliated!!! PS: i think he wouldn't mind a gear meet with telecaster freaks... (he's having a gear meet with some people from another forum this weekend) if there is enough interest in this i can ask him if he wants to invite a bunch of tele-players...?

Hi Nokaster.
Have you tried the TWIN 30? I´ve been in contact with Stefaan Geens at the shop that they should have the sound of a deuxe reverb with the guts of an low powered twin. Sounds interesting to me If you got time, plz try one and let me know. I let you know if I go to Belgium.........hopefully with a Twin 30 or a Fadman or... Thanks! /Ubbe

if you search harmony central reviews, you can find f.a.d. amps. there are some reviews, all by the same guy. he's a great player, and although he loves fad amps, his reviews are objective enough. drop me a line if you are in belgium!
