I think you should get yourself a small tube amp like a Crate V118 or a Blues Junior and a distortion pedal. Both of those are small enough to play at home, loud enough for a drummer, and can be found for $350 or less. The Crate will get you some Marshall tones.

Solid state amps aren't very loud and you'll quickly find that there are better options as far as tone is concerned.

I had a mini stack for a short while. Nothing special in sound, no Marshall tone that I could really hear. While they are cool to look at and I agree that a wall of them would be really neat I think they were more of a gimmick than a serious amp.

ive thought about the blues junior or if i can get the money a fender blues deluxe and the 112 extension cab i want to be able to have a good clean channel to run my tele or kramer into for brighter tone and then be able to switch to dirty channel and kick on a little distortion and use my ibanez 7 string to get metal tones

Check the Atlanta Craigslist. They always have Blues Juniors. However, if you want anything close to metal you'll need a pedal with those amps. The distortion is very tame (some say lame) on the dirty channel.

IMO they're not very good amps....look cool though. Too bad they couldn't have took the concept and used a little tube head like a Blackheart or something.

I agree with what Rumble said.
but the micro stacks dont go to 11.
In ancient times,
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history.
There lived a strange race of people...the Druids.
No one knows who they were, or...what they were doing...
But their legacy remains...
Hewn into the living rock of Stonehenge...

Stonehenge!
Where the demons dwell
Where the banshees live and they do live well
Stonehenge!
Where a man is a man and the children dance
To the pipes of Pan...

Stonehenge!
Tis' a magic place,
Where the moon doth rise, with a dragon's face
Stonehenge!
Where the virgins lie
And the prayer of devils fill the midnight sky...

And you my love, won't you take my hand
We'll go back in time,
To that mystic land
Where the dew drops cry, and the cats meow
I will take you there
I will show you how....

And Oh how they danced...
The little children of Stonehenge
Beneath the haunted moon...
For fear that daybreak, might come too soon...

And where are they now?
The little people of Stonehenge...
And what would they say to us,
If we were here.........Tonight.......

Check this out: A Hot Rod Deluxe in the Atl Craigslist for $350. That's a good deal on a powerful first tube amp, and you'd have enough money left over for a pedal and new tubes.

On most amps, including the HRD, it's not much harder than changing a light bulb. Just pull the old ones out gently and plug the new ones in. The only thing you have to do is make sure the pins are aligned properly (and you don't want the amp powered up )

The Peavey Classic 30 would be another good tube amp to look at for low dollars. They sound good clean, have a decent drive channel, and are easy to tote around but loud enough for most situations.
