Vibro Champ rebuild

Well, I have a SF Vibro Champ that has had a power transformer replaced sometime in its life. I decided to do a cap job on it, but decided on making a new board for it. I'm almost through wiring it and will load the board soon.

Getting close!

This one should sound sweet if I get the right speaker. I changed the RCA speaker jack to a 1/4" phone jack so that I can use it with other cabinets as well. This should be a sleeper grab-n-go.

Howdy,

I'm happy for you. No Fender amp sounds better for raunch than a VC!
Enjoy.

It could be my eyes, BUT that looks like a dual Octal push pull...

Both octals have screen/grid resistors on them, the board seems to have a PI bias/grid feed on the far left, SS diode rectifiers directly from the PT to the cap-can (a lack of them rows of vibro caps, NO it looks like some Mallory's in a row there in the middle, hmm)...

So...

WHAT IS THIS THING?

A Princeton rebuilt from a Champ? I guess I should zoom in and eyeball that layout and resistor color bands, but I have a feeling suspense is the name of this build :)

JC nailed it. I am doing a ss rectified AA964 Princeton circuit in it. I had a cool old OT and this wasn't a spectacular Champ.

I'm going to stay with an 8" speaker, I think I'll try a Weber Sig Alnico, I'll be running it at its ragged edge.

Are you going to beef up the preamp since you're going with a non-Reverb Princeton?
