Well - here she is today. A little more every day.....today I added some trim on the grill and did some fine tuning with wood filler prior to sanding/finishing which I'm not looking forward to because of the down-time. I just had to put it all together to start R&D'ing for sound/cab style/chambering etc. before I put the final screws to it.
The control cut out is very rough as I just made it beig enough to function following woodworking rule number 821: "Always cut out opening smaller as they can always be expanded, but never shrunk". SO I will play with the amp and enjor it for a week or so before I take it all apart for final finishing.
Right now it's in 1/2 closed back format which I'm really liking, the speaker is a C12N. Can't believe how different this cab sounds compared to the epiphone VJ cab I had the circuit in previously, literally night and day. It's like a completely different amp. Of course I knew that cabs can make a difference, but didnt realize just how much of a difference. This is what you often pay for with boutique amps to address a different thread started on that subject.
Cab construction is probably the single most overlooked underrated concept folks think of when they are buying amps, but it's probably the most important. Thats why that Bogner Shiva I had not only cost close to 3 grand, but a huge reason why it sounds so good. The cab is an engineering miracle as well as built to withstand the apocalypse.
