65 super reverb tube replacement?

hey ya'll, i've been lurking around for a few months and find way more knowledge on here than i have. you guys have helped me without even knowing it...lol. i was hoping maybe someone could help me some more. i have a original 65 super reverb and it is in the process of getting some overhauling done to it. (but) while i was at the guitar store the other day i asked the tech what type of tubes he was gonna put in it, he told me groove tubes. i didnt think then to ask him what the original tubes where that came in it. not even sure if they even make them anymore..i would appreciate any help in this matter i could get. i want it as close to as original as it can be. anyhoo thx to all and this is an awesome site!!!

See if the tech has Winged =C= 6L6's. They're the best new production power tubes you can get. Get NOS 12at7's for the reverb and phase inverter slots. How does your amp sound?

Antique Electronic Supply in Arizona. KCA NOS tubes. They're available on EBay. They're around $50 for a matched pair. Are you sure your amp needs a tuneup, and insist on getting all old parts back especially the tubes.

thx for the heads up on antique electrical supply! found the site and they have alot of stuff i like. the amp hasnt been played since the early 70's. i took it down to my tech i use and he checked it out. plugged it in and to my surprise it still worked. it had some small issues such as some scratchyness which i assume is common for something that has setup for so long and we think 1 of the spaeaker's may be blown in it, reverb and vibrato still work and i still have the original two prong chord and two button foot switch it came with. this amp was bought brand new in 1965 by my dad, he got it for his brother who played lead guitar. my uncle has passed on now and it stays with me and my pops now so we're gettn it back in shape and i'm gonna see what i can do with it! thx for the help and i'll repost when i get it back in shape and maybe by then i'll figure out how to post some pics of it to show

I know that Stevie Ray Vaughan used GE Preamp tubes and Sylvania Power tubes. At least that is what I read in Guitar World interview of Rene Martinez.
