I like Trace Elliott stuff, though I may be biased as I was a bass player for many years before I ever picked up a 6 string. They make GREAT bass amps!

A few years ago I had a Trace guitar amp. Seem to remember is was called a Tramp (?). Solid state, 2 channels, Celestion Vintage 30, reverb. Fantastic clean channel! The gain channel was geared for more than I needed, but you could dial in a good bluesy breakup. It sounded really good, despite not having any glowing glass in the back. I also kinda dug the funky green tolex. Kinda wish I had never let that one go.

Killer recording amp - just great tone.

Nice score!

Hello, I'm new here but thought I should add a comment about Trace guitar amps as I own three of them: a Speed Twin 100w 2x12 combo, a Bonneville 50w 1x12 combo fitted with Mullard pre-amp tubes and a pair of KT66s, and a Velocette 12R fitted with a Celestion Greenback 12M - my usual practice and small gig amp. As you've probably gathered from this I like them. The Speed Twin has a beautiful clean channel and the Velo has the sparkle of EL84s. Still looking for a Velocette SE, so if you know of one let me know.

I recently bought a Trace Elliot Supertramp, 40 watt SS with a vintage Celestion 12" and I love the tone of this thing, the clean channel, although
not the classic "Fender" warm sound is very nice and you would swear it was
a tube amp.

I had an HRDx and it was ok but I love this little amp, I won't be selling it.

I mentioned in another thread that i found a Trace Elliott Supertramp combo in a skip bin!

My tech has it at the moment, hoping it can be revived. I'm stoked at the prospect of it coming back to life.

With names like Velocette and Speed Twin, how could you go wrong?

I have one of those Super Tramp heads sitting around here. I'm baby sitting it and a Sunn 4x12 cabinet for a family friend who's currently working in China. And you are right, the clean channel is surprisingly good for a SS amp. Is this the amp you had ?

Yep, that's the amp I had (combo version of course). I saw a few posts before that Webmel got a Supertramp as well. He describes it perfectly.

Pretty cool amp for sure. Light years ahead of most ss amps imo. Probably FET transistors (?). Dunno, but it's real hard to get much better without tubes.
