AC30 "motorboat" sound

i rarely use the normal channel of my ac30, but lately i've noticed a strange 'motorboat' kinda sound coming through that channel only. any guesses as to what that might be caused by?

Is it a Vox, or a clone?

"Motorboating" is usually a result of bad lead dress, or not enough filtering in the power supply.

Edit, added: Is it a womp womp womp womp sound at a steady pace that gets deeper as you turn up the volume?

I'm pretty certain that can be a symptom of a bad preamp tube. I've got that on more than one amp, and in one case it only occurred after changing tubes.

I had an amp problem like that once; it was the coupling caps.
