Do you mean that you never used it period or you never gigged with it? I have the PODXT Live and POD XT and use them for recording mostly and I love them.

I've gigged with it maybe 3 to 5 times and practiced with it slightly more. I'm mainly keeping it aroung for a spare are just in case my fender lays down. I do agree that they are nice for recording but I don't do much of that anymore. KLR

I have a Line 6 Flextone III XL. I think it's an amazing amp. It's like having 32 different amps in one. Sure, they may not sound EXACTLY like the amps they are modeled after, but close enough for me.

Let me clarify, however, that I don't play gigs - I play in the comfort of my own garage to my wife, kids and dog. And they don't have the best ears... That being said, it's my favorite amp I've ever owned, tube or not.

I also use Line 6's Toneport UX1 with Gearbox for recording. It's a great setup...

I use the Podxt live for a lot of recording...love it...but I do not use it or other line6 products live. Just a tube amp cranked...Got the Toneport for brother in law..and it seems pretty decent for begging recordings, and a great learning tool..

I wasn't aware that Line 6's needed a fan... do they run hot?

1st a Spider 210 and floor board, my boys got it for me for my B-Day 2003. Then I got a Flex II -XL. Sold the XL when I stopped playing for a while. Got my Son a Spider 112, and about 2 weeks ago I got another Flex II, I missed my XL, except The weight i did not miss. This one I just got is a 112 Flex II. I just got my midi adapter today in the mail and I have been deep editing it like I had the XL set up when I had it.

Check with Arlo

Our own Arlo West uses a Line 6 a whole bunch, and his tone is always great in my opinion. I've never owned or gigged with one. I have tried them out in stores, but I'm an old vintage Fender guy. I would like to have one for backup, etc.

I was going to say, "If it's good-nuff for Arlo"..

But I been doing lone 6 since I started playing again in 2002-3, long before I had the pleasure of knowing about Arlo.

I originally used the Spider as a Backup to the Flex IIXL, because I figured digi stuff is just gonna quit with out letting you know first. ;)

But none of our stuff has quit. But I'd say if you are using DSP stuff, real good line conditioning is prudent and a must.

I picked up a cheap Spider II 30W at a clearance sale, and I liked it for a few weeks, then became disenchanted. However, after letting it collect dust for a while, I went back to it and learned how to get some really good tones out of the Clean and Crunch channels. It was only meant to be for casual use so that I could leave my PRII at home. If a beer gets spilled on it, it's not the end of the world. Not as good as a tube amp, but I'm happy with it.

Picked up another today, A Flextone II Plus and 2 Floor boards.

So you will see both of those floorboards on eBay, I already got one. I also got one with the 112 that I sold the other day on eBay. I should be careful not to flood the market. ;)

Now I will sell my Flex II 112, or keep it to use as a Backup and as a second Cab for the plus.

It was pretty cool just to back up the 112 stuff I have been working on and just restore it to the Plus. 2 minutes and done.

Flex II Plus Stack Anyone? ;)

Damn, I thought I put a black guard on that Tele...

I have a 15 Spider III & it great for a practice amp and loud enough to tick the neighbors off - can get some nice tone with a little tweaking.

I've been using a Line6 Flextone II XL for nearly 6 years and I love it. When I play live we're doing covers and I do a lot of rhythm work. The amp lets me get a vast array of tones to contrast the other players and I get them pretty easily.

I use the floorboard with it and usually have banks set up for different guitars I'm using. I set one bank for general use and the others vary. It's cool to have the effect preprogrammed too.

I have set it up with separate bank/locations for songs too. That was nice.

It's great for recording too especially with the line out direct into my recording deck. A set of headphones and I can wail after midnight and get no flack about it.

IMO, 95+% of the tone of a great old tube amp, presets on the floor board, rugged ... Cheap... It's a real good player for a working man. What's not to like?

All I got is a VJR Tube wise. I got my last Line 6 amps for less that a tube change on a twin. These are great deals as well as very useful tools.

I have a POD XT and it's got it's uses so I'm glad I own it. If it had a footswicth it would be very handy for top 40 country or classic rock style gigging as there is some facsimile of every sound ever recorded on the damn thang.

You can combine amps, cabs, and every effect you might need with one little unit the size of a kidney bean and it's fairly inuitive to use. And if you work the preset to what you need, it's great. You can literally set it for each song on your set list with a push of a button. It's like having a pedal board with the pedals used by the original guitar player on each song and set the same too.

For that type of stuff it's indespensable considering the alternatives.

The folks that have them seem to have no issues with them and normally like them alot. This bring up the question of why is the such a crappy resale and trade value on them?

I have a flextone II with the extension 12" cab. Great amp. gigged with it a lot and I've never had a problem.
I've heard that they don't stand up that well in a 2 guitar scenario when the other guitarist is using a tube amp (no experience with that since I was the only guitarist).
I still keep it around to use as a back-up. Great amp IMHO.

I don't understand this statement. I played for a benefit a few months ago and there were four guitarists at one time. The other guitarist were playing through a Fender tube amp, a MusicMan tube, a Kustom and I had my Line 6.

I had no problem "standing up well" with these guys and I even did some twin leads and call and response type stuff with one of the guys. With so many playing I had to crank the Flextone a little more but had no problem holding my own.

I love my Flextone III XL's! I own 4 of them.

The Flex is a very versatile amp with many colorations. The only limitations are the users ability to set it up internally. And it seems to suffer in the ultra sparkly highs that you get from other amps. This is something that I would like to discuss with Line 6 someday. I am not certain if it is the speaker [red celestion Line 6 model] or the amp.

After using a Yamaha G100 II for almost 25 years I got used to serious sparkle and brilliant clean tomes. Maybe Line6 should use that amp as a clean channel offering in the next upgrade?

If you are willing to take the time to expand the stock settings or replace them with your own you will find a world of possibilities at your disposal.

I was very disappointed with the stock settings when I first bought mine. I went and downloaded the software and started programing it the next day and realized the potential. For some folks this may be too much tweaking and fuss and I could see having a less than favorable reaction if you were wanting something right out of the box.

It will need some tweaking to get the performance capability you are seeking.

I have never had any problem keeping up with ANY amp period. This thing will get you kicked out of a club with it's sheer volume. I used to use two stacked and I tell ya what. Thats two too much even for this veteran of volume.

I also own the PODs and a Vetta combo stack. The Vetta is not my cup of tea and I will most likely get rid of it or give it to me son. The POD's are fun to play with but I found that the Flex direct outputs are perfect for recording. Most of the music I have produced in the last 3 years has been straight out of the amp into PT7.

You wouldn't believe how many people email to ask me "What kind of tube amp are you using?"
