Help with Peavey Classic VTX 212

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a great workhorse amp - an early eighties Peavey Classic VTX 212. I got it for $110 and it sounds pretty dang good. It is missing a knob and the 'Automix' footswitch. Can anyone recommend a good source that would sell these? I haven't talked to a live body at Peavey but can't seem to find either of these items on their website so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Call or e-mail Peavey's parts department. A call is better. You won't find discontinued items on their website, but they do have some parts for 'em. Not sure how much it would be, but they will build a footswitch for a discontinued amp to order. At least they have in the past.

I've got the 1978 Classic - actually it's my second one.The ESSENTIAL thing is to get a Tech 21 GT-2 and at that moment that it's turned on You'll begin to realize that You have a "world class TONE monster".
Many a time I have considered selling everything else I've been blessed with and just going with Peavey and Tech 21 GT-2.
That's how AWESOME the two are in tandem.

You know what???

I'm not sure, but I think I still have the Automix footswitch that came with my old Peavey Duece from way back when. I think it's the same footswitch that you're looking for. If I have it, then I'll report back.

Thanks for the input!

Thank you all for the input. E-Merlin, I knew I could count on you for some Peavy help. And Trag-o-caster, if you do have an old footswitch let me know and we'll work something out. For $110 bucks this will be a great amp. I'm going to put some new tubes in it and hopefully find a footswitch and I'll be in business. I cut my teeth on Peaveys in the early eighties - I still have a Bandit 65 I bought brand new in 82 and I have a Classic 30 that was my main gigging amp until four years ago when I got my SFDR. I also had a Renown for a few years. What I'm saying is I've got a soft spot in my heart for these Reagan era Peavey amps. They're hard to beat for the price.

The Peavey S/S front end matches up perfectly with Tech 21 gear. The only other one that IMHO is a "must have" is The Twin Reverb/Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive.
With the Peavey/GT-2 - just set it and forget it - absolute beano.

There are some great tones in those VTX amps. Really loved mine for a couple of years but sold it as I basically couldnt pick it up!

Hey skinnyguy -

I'll have to go look through some boxes in my garage... BUT...

... if I find, I'll just GIVE it to ya! Just send me a mailing address.

You shouldn't pay for that. It's sat in my boxes of junk since the late 70's doing nothing. If I find it - it's YOURS!
