TAD's Champ unassembled kit is about 485 Euros without a speaker! I think you would be hard pressed to even but the components for a Champ for under 450 Euros from a supplier in Europe. The only real way would be to catch one on eBay (a long wait) or import one from the US. |

VitoCorleone? (qué pacha, jeje)
perhaps Ebay Germany (there's JTM45 clones, fully assembled chassis, no cabinet, stuff like that) but I'd go for a US champ clone (MUCH cheaper) - 150 bucks plus shipping, probably cost 120/180 euros including shipping/customs. Find a nice cabinet and... voila!

It's not from a good builder, it's not a clone (but it's close), but it is cheap, and available in Europe:
http://www.plus.de/-Golden-Ton-Smart...9WiU8qstVCCdC0 Circuit is a tweed Champ with a 6L6. You may have to go in and optimize a few things, from what I've heard. Hand wired, built on a turret board. I've never seen one of these, I'm just reporting the discussion on the German forums. But for 90 euros, what the heck. I've attached a pic of the innards from one of the forums. steven

Hello,
I have been looking for a tweed clone some time ago. Besides the TAD kits there are hardly any tweed champs offered. The closest thing might be the "Max" from Marble Amps (Netherlands). The price is 695 EUR. http://www.marble-amps.com/marble.as...p&paginasub=18[]1{}Max.asp I finally bought a 5E3 Clone by MEK UK-electronic. The price is 899 EUR assambled/handwired with cabinet (solid pine lacquered tweed) http://uk-electronic.de/onlineshop/p...f103db6420a869 Uwe Kämmerich from MEK will also assemble other amps. You might want to ask him for a tweed champ. But I suppose it would be more than 450 EUR. An alternative might be this (749 EUR): http://www.twinsound.de/index.php?id...d90b6d9d9fc83f The bigger model (Twinsound 25) got a good review in Gitarre & Bass. And there is a amp by Fame that - as far as I know - a (kind of) handbuilt relative of a Pro Jr. for 222,- EUR: http://www.musicstore.de/is-bin/INTE...mpTo=OfferList Greetings, Klaus |

There is a guy who sells Champ clones on German Ebay every couple of weeks (I think he goes by a name like "kloneamps" or something similar), and they usually go for about 350 to 400 Euros...
If I stumble across one of the auctions again, I'll post a link, OK? |

Did a quick search for closed auctions - here's a Champ made by the guy I mentioned:
And here is his webpage - he mentions a Champ for sale for 349€. Webpage is German only, but I'm pretty sure he'll understand you if you write a mail in English: http://www.klone-valveamps.de/angebote.php |

I contacted this guy recently by using the contact formular on his website. he called me after a couple of hours and was very friendly in discussing an amp project - he'll probably tailor amps according to your needs - speaker, tubes, built in tremolo etc.
a champ goes for like 50, a deluxe for like 450 with weber speakers. that's pretty good for a handbuilt amp, isn't it? he builts blackface amps, too. while we were discussing opportunities we found out that a friend of mine owns a 5E3 he built. He breought it to a session once and I remember he had a good sound that night. So we aggreed that I'll try that first and then go ahead with him. I am not a gearhead and not at all a technician, but this guy sounded competent to me.

As I live in Cologne (just like Klaus) I tried it in the store, side by side with the pro jr.
The sound is slightly less midrangy (maybe due to the speaker) than the junior and there is less noise. So IMHO the Fame is slightly better.
