Vibrolux- new speaker size combo?

Hey Guys. I have a mid 70's silverface vibrolux and I am thinking of ordering one of those Allen Amplification replacement cabinets with a new speaker size configuration. I am just not satisfied with the tone out of the amp with the two tens. I am now running matched ragin cajins, and I like the speakers, but the amp overall just lacks a well rounded sound to me. I've had my local amp guru run it over and he says the amp itself is its great shape, all original caps in good shape as well. I think I would be happier speaker-wise with a one twelve, or maybe a one 12"/ one 10" combo.

What are your thoughts on the combo? anyone use a 12/ 10 combo and like it? -or is sticking to perhaps a single 12" the best route?

I play americana rock and am mostly a rythym player. Our songs range from straight clean rythym to a bit overdriven sound on occasion. Our lead guitarist plays tele's through a 67 deluxe, and I switch out between my 335 with 57 classics (gonna probably switch to burstbucker pros) or my les paul special w/ p90's. I also sometimes pull out my historic series Gretsch w/ TV Jones Filtertrons as well.

Anyway, just wanted some thoughts from the folks here.

Thanks alot!

Before swapping cabinets, try replacing one (not both) of the ceramic-magnet Rajin Cajun's with an alnico speaker. I'd suggest the Weber 10A150. I did that in my 2x10 Allen Encore (very similar to a Vibrolux) and got a much more three-dimensional tone, with richer breakup and a more interesting clean tone.

I use a 12/10 combination cabinet (loaded with Eminence Legend 105 and 121), but with a very different amp (a Wber 6M45 - a JTM45 clone); I also play mostly clean (wih a little breakup provided by a Barber LTD when needed).
I love that speaker combination - the fullness and warmth of a 12" combined with the attack and twang of a 10"...
