1969 Ampeg J12r Reverbojet original?
I just traded for an Ampeg Reverbojet J12R.
Everything seems to be original with the exception of the speaker and of course, tubes. Is the value of this amp killed due to the speaker change?

The value is probably lowered but I wouldn't say "killed"--and Reverbojets don't grow on trees! I had one back in the late '60s, sold it after a couple of years and then spent more than 30 years looking for another one. I've only seen about half a dozen in all my years of looking on eBay. True, they're not valuable in the sense that blackface Fenders are, but in my experience Reverbojets are much, much harder to find.
I just bought one a couple of months ago and I'm having it brought up to snuff by my repair person (the tubes are weak, it needs capacitor replacement etc.). It came with a 1968 Jensen speaker (a C-12N if I remember correctly)--I don't know if it's the original speaker but it sure looks like it could be. My first Reverbojet had a CTS. |
