Can't help you with the mod amp. Why don't you get a good tube amp? I personally do not like to everything in one unit just in case something breaks.

I love them all. I Like the Line 6 for distorted rock/metal tones, but I play a Vox AD50VTX because I like their clean and slightly gritty models a lot better (BF Twin, Tweed 4x10, AC15, AC30TB) The Roland sounds great, too. The Vox is often stated to have heat issues, and I have heard of two instances that it failed at gig volume. (That's two out of hundreds) and have smelled things getting hot when I've had mine cranked a time or two.

It's hard to call any of these "Better" they're just different and I suggest you A/B them until one steps out at you. It may be a sound you like, or you might find yourself more comfortable with one interface over another. I liked the last series Vox better (AD60, AD120) because they have more memory locations (8 vs the AD50/AD100's 2)

I love tube amps - I just want something different for a change without the hassle of stomp boxes etc, just to goof around some & maybe do some recording - nothing serious.

Why not a SuperChamp XD? Modeling and tubes! It's a really good sounding little amp.

I'll cast my vote for the Valvetronix line. My style means I spent most of my time on the Fender and Vox models, but I loved 'em. Great amps! In the current lineup, I like the 30-watt (the 15-watt doesn't have the attenuator, I think).

FYI, Line 6 teamed up with Bogner and came up wtith the Spider Valve line that you'll want to try out. Not my cup of tea but you may love it.

The styles I like to play most often are - blues, 70's rock, Gatton type stuff, also would love to get a Robben Ford type tone.
