Anyone Test Test Drive the "Vintage" Champ 600?

It's cute and brown looking, but I'm afraid to try it because I'll wind up buying and my wife will kill me.

I don't have anything tube in my arsenal now and really want that, and I don't need anything big so this may fit the bill.

I read more than one review where they dis the speaker, so I'm wondering whether you can squeeze an 8 in there instead of the stock 6.

My friend has one and I played a Gretsch Tennasee Rose though it. It sounded really nice .... very warm...and louder than you'd think. However, his had a tube vibration problem. He didn't realize it but when I pointed it out he knew what I was talking about. He ended up swapping his for another. The second one blew up (poof! - darn....I missed seeing that)

He finally got a working one.

My advice is check it carefully and be sure to buy from a place that will exchange it if necessary.

WOW!!! That pretty much covers it all!

THANKS!!!

And Lance--this is what was kind scaring me away from it. I heard that the production values on a bunch of these are HORRIBLE. Like no consistency at all as to quality, and I'm not just talking about a tube coming loose during shipping. A whole plethora of problems that no one can explain.

Like Fender just kind of threw them together.
