A guy I used to know bought a little amp like the Supro at a yard sale. It might have been an old Kay? Anyway, it was about 5 watts and a single little speaker. It's priced at $10. He looks at it, and thinking it's priced way too low, says to the little old lady "Ten dollars? Are you serious?" She looks at it and replies "Five?"
Same guy got a '56 gold top LP in swap for $400 and a Takamine acoustic

Type guitar but must have P-90s. Store had a couple, very heavy. Saw a Green one hanging on the back wall. Asked the guy could he see it. He didn't know what it was, had Gibson on the headstock, figured it might be an Asian fake. Asked his friend to look at it, was it a Gibson ? was feather weight. His friend got a coin and scratched the top of the guitar, underneath was Gold. He said this is a Gibson Gold Top, had been painted with green paint by the previous owner. He bought it for $350. Took it to a guitar expert to see if he could get the green paint removed. The expert checked the serial #, looked at the pots, caps etc......said do you know what this is ?? My friend said 70s / 80s Goldtop ?? Turned out to be an Original '55 Goldtop. That never happens when I go into pawn shops !!! |

You're right Scott S. Amazing finds though.
But give us some more junkers!!! If I could only get my hands on a camera I'd post some pics of my 5C5 junker project - now up and running - and my old 50's Swedish toob amp which I hope to be able to turn into something useful some day. That amp gives a new dimension to the term point-to-point and the often claimed fact that point-to-point amps easily become rats nests of wires and components. But the chassis is a beauty, painted in green hammerite, and the iron looks hefty too. It actually is in working condition as is, but it cracks and spurts and sure does need at least a cap job. More on this later... And now for some junkers!

My travel guitar amp - , built in 1962 and filled to the brim with germanium transistors - you can also use it as a radio or hook an mp3 or CD player to it if you like. The best - it works with batteries
