Spare guitar gone, hello amp buying

Well, I am one step closer to buying my next amp. I successfully sold my Martin 18 series Custom guitar today. So now it's really crunch time to pick and choose my next amp being new or used. I guess I'll start going through some of the archives here for some ideas...

in nearly the same boat, sold '59 Duo-sonic a few weeks ago, can't settle on where to reinvest that $. just about ready to place an order for a tweed super or pro or bandmaster kit. seems the most bang for the buck... anyway keep us posted.

Good ideas there. It may take a while for me to narrow down and settle in on one. Let me know what you end up getting.

Me too. Sold a strat yesterday and I'm thinking of getting one of these with the money. One will be in a local shop within the next few weeks so I'll give it a try, anyway.

Dennis, what kind of music do you play? If it's country or blues I suggest something that has this in one corner:

And says this in the other corner:

What's a spare guitar ???

Seriously, I used to have a rule for bikes, if it did not get ridden more than once a year, i'd sell it. ;)

well, if you're used to playing a Fender, you might try a Vox or something in the family (Matchless, Bad Cat, etc) -- really different sound, pretty versatile, sounds great with a Tele.

If you're used to playing a Vox, try a Fender! If you've got both of those bases covered, try a Marshall, though to my ear a strat pairs up better than a tele with a marshall.

My newest acquisition is also my new fave, though: a 1964 Ampeg Gemini VI that I found off craigslist for $200. Cosmetically beat and not at all loud for its size but killer vibrato and "echo" (reverb). Crank it and it's instant "West Side Soul" era Magic Sam. Have fun hunting.
