AC30cc or AC50Classic plus

I am lookin for a new head and it has come down to these two. The classic plus is tempting with its 50 watts and high gain channel, however if I am to get this amp I'm going to have to special order it with really no chance to play it before hand. The other choice is the AC30cc which many people swear by, and is cheaper, but playing in a rock and metal band I don't know if I need more gain. but with the money I would save over the classic I could get a nice distortion box.

Really I guess what I am asking here is, is the classic plus really that much better than the AC30?

I don't know about the 50, but I own AC30CC 2 x 12 combo. It's a great amp, but I can't imagine it working for metal. Rock, yes.

They are totally different amps. Don't let the "AC" fool you.

I have been watching video reviews and checking sound clips and the AC30 is lookin good. If its got some grit and a lotta balls i can make it work for any thing.

Both really are different amps... I tried out one of the new AC100s (I haven't tried the 50), and while it was quite different from an AC30, I thought it was a pretty great sounding amp. I love classic vox amps (the AC15 and AC30), but if I were playing heavier music, I think I'd like the added flexibility of the Classic Plus amps.

Just my opinion though!

I've owned them both. Very different amps EL84's in the AC30 vs EL34's in the AC50. If you're playing hard rock and metal go with the AC50; you will not regret it!
