Great replies everyone. I figured since i waas thinking about adding a new vintage 50's amp to the mix here, no better time then to rekindle everyone's love of the vintage 50's offerings. Great little family photo there, Galt! Thanks for sharing.
There's a special place in my heart for both the 5f1 champ as well as the 5e3 deluxe that Austin mentioned... But truth be told, I wouldn't pass on most any of them...

I like the 5F8-A high powered tweed twins that Keith Richards plays best for sound, though they're too loud for me to be able to use one anywhere. Second best, to me, is the 5F6-A bassman, again too loud unless you've got power scaling, or an attenuator, or a master volume in it. I personally don't like the sound of the low powered 5E8-A twin (to my ears, the long-tailed phase inverter design of the bassman and high powered twin just plain sounds better, especially in the semidirty to dirty ranges) or the lower powered amps much, though I know a lot of people do.

Twin, Bassman, and Pro. Haven't owned any of them, but played through them over the years.

I've owned 5 tweeds,4 I still own.All narrow panel.
'59 Bassman '56 Pro '59 Tremolux '57 Deluxe '5? Vibrolux (sold) Overall, the Bassman...not because it is considered by so many to be "the one",but because it is the "King Of Clean" at low volumes, and killer overdrive when cranked. The others all have their merits---the Pro(5E5-A)with a JBL D-130 (gotta find another one) was soooooooooo good sounding.

'57 Twin RI. It's simply the smoothest, silkiest amp I've ever played through. I used to own a '63 Princeton Reverb (which I should've never gotten rid of) and it was pretty fine as well, though not a '50s Fender.
Neil Young swears by the old '50s Deluxes so I suppose they'd probably be worth considering as well.

Absolutley the 56 Deluxe in the picture! Amazing tone. I borrowed this amp from Ken Warmoth for a project I was working on, all the guys at Warmoth never liked it, but man-0-man did it sound sweeeeet! I used a Warmoth custom swamp ash Tele w/Antiquities that I built-just because I wanted that holy grail of tones and nailed it!
