Well it isnt on the speaker itself. I dont know what they call it but its on the covering in front of the speaker. The Silvery part the sound comes out of. Wow i sound like a 16yr school girl

A vacuum with a brush attachment is your best bet. An old toothbrush might help to loosen troublesome spots. Don't press hard enough to stretch the grille cloth (that's the word you were looking for) and make it saggy.

If it really won't come off, you'll have to remove the speaker and the baffle and wash it with a brush, a bit of water and dish (not dishwasher) soap. Use a shopvac that can handle wet to suck it dry.

someone ought to draw up a 'critical parts map' or a couple labeled closeup pictures to help new folks out with their vocab a little. then post as a sticky thread. hmmm... things are slow here at work, maybe I'll take a crack at it.

leave it! it adds character! i just sold an old Randall combo that had a mud spot on the grille cover from the "Rooney Mountain Music Fest" in Deposit NY c.1993( you western nyawkas may remember that fest.) it was a crazy weekend full of all sorts of debauchery and lots of mud! the little 2 inch mud spot served as a reminder of on helluva good time!
you can see it in the lower right corner of the grille. that was a great amp!

I'd say leave it be unless it's affecting the sound - it'll come off in time or it won't.

I have gear that I've gigged with stained with spilled drinks, candle wax, gunk,
dirt, and gosh-knows-what-else..

it always sucks the first time one scuffs up a brand new pair of shoes, but
that's what they're for isn't it??

Sounds like a job for the low E string. Turn all the knobs up and pound out the Peter Gunn theme for awhile.

+1, adds character ... my acoustic guit case has mud from Red Rocks amphitheatre in Colorado, from a rainy week of Dead shows in 1982. And always will ...
