BF Bandmaster

This week I re-capped a BF Bandmaster that I had laying around. I ran it through a single 12" Vintage 30 and it really sounded sweet...

My first thought was to fix it up and sell it but I'm having a hard time letting it go! I'm thinking about getting a 2x12 or 2x10 4 ohm cab for it - any recommendations for speaker combinations? Open or closed back?

Thanks!

steve watson does a nice partial open back cab

from the front it looks like a vintage piece but the back has a fanned back panel and gets KILLER bass response over a stock 2x12

Go big!

I run my '65 and '67 Bandmasters (both recapped) through a 1X15 EVM15L. You can't beat a big clean speaker. Using a high wattage speaker works for me, I have no chance for blowing up that speaker, (I usually run my Bandmasters volume on 8 or so) so I'm not afraid to turn the amp up. It sounds a little sterile at recording volumes, but for gigging it is the best!

I know that "tone" Rob (PA)...

it's good'un too. To me unless the family needed the
heat or the food nothing would convince me to unload
vintage Fender treasures. Those classic Western Electric
circuits are the foundation of all we call "tone".
I'm a big believer in the EV-15L, I think it's the greatest
of all the 15's, "big sky tone", made a believer out of me.

Good luck....

getting a matching cabinet. Not that it's essential, but I spent almost a year trying to locate a reasonably priced, period correct 2x12 bottom for my '65 Bassman head. Most people don't want to seperate their sets if they have them...and the rest are beat. I finally happened on a mint one....but with blown oxfords. A pair of Webers completed the picture and it's a great rig.
