Tolex & Speakercloth in the United Kingdom?

'Evening all...

Does anyone have any suggestions to where to get something to clothe a homemade speaker cab & head box? Am in London so if there's some old boy in a back street in Crouch End or somewhere then so much the better!

There was someone in ?Southend or nearby whose details I've lost...

Thanks in advance,
Mikie

At the moment there's some black Tolex on UK eBay from a seller in Southend, who may well be the guy you refer to. Here's the item reference:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOLEX-VYNIDE-H...QQcmdZViewItem

This particular piece is on auction but he says other sizes are available, so it may be worth contacting him through the link on the listing.

Otherwise vinyl upholstery material similar to Tolex can be bought from a variety of suppliers. Try John Lewis to start with.

Evo-stik is the best adhesive for the job. Takes more than just one little tube!

Regarding grille cloth, Maplins keep some in plain black in three thicknesses.

Thanks for the tips!

I've been doing some homework, and Vynide is more or less the same stuff as Tolex and comes from any supplier for car upholstery and interiors for a lot less money (as long as you don't want exotic colours).

'Rexine' leathercloth similarly appears fairly cheap & cheerful.
