Converting Behringer GMX210 to 2x10 Cab?
I have a Behringer GMX210 that has two 10" JENSEN speakers in it. I don't use the amp anymore and I thought it might be fairly easy to convert to a 2x10 cabinet. The amp part is easily removed, however, the speakers are hard wired to the amp...no speaker jacks. I would have to install this myself.
I have a few questions:
Thanks for your help! |

First determine what impedance each speaker is. I looked at the user manual at the link you provided. Looks like your amp is a stereo setup with 2 discrete 30 watt amps?
And each speaker is a 4-ohm speaker. If that is truly the case, to make your cabinet the most useful, I would say you'd want to wire your speakers in series, and get a total impedance from the set of: 8-ohms. That should match up with the majority of amp heads out there. Anyone else have an opinion?

Hmmm... with 2 4-ohm speakers, you're either gonna get at total impedance of 2-ohms in parallel or 8-ohms in series.
OR.... you could keep it as a stereo cabinet and just plug your Vibrochamp into only one of the speakers..... OR....wire it up as an 8-ohm cabinet in series and buy the $80 Weber Z-Matcher (impedance matcher), which would allow you to use any freakin' speaker setup you can muster with any amp. I plan to do that myself soon. I have a 79 silverface champ that I want to run into a 4-ohm 2x10 cabinet or a 8-ohm 1x15 cabinet. I am not sure about the new Vibrochamp and whether it could possibly tolerate a 2-ohm load.... sounds kinda low to me and dangerous. Maybe someone with a Vibrochamp can chime in.
