Celestion on the'bay

http://cgi.ebay.com/1976-Celestion-G...QQcmdZViewItem

Does anyone know anything about this speaker? I'm looking for a Celestion still for my SFDR and I'm low on cash.

Also, when you get speakers do they usually have the 1/4 out attached? Od you just have to plug it in and screw it to the baffle?

A 30-year-old, 30-watt Celestion? I bet it sounds great. The ad doesn't say whether it has a medium sized magnet or a heavy magnet. If it's medium it probably sounds like a Greenback; if it's heavy it probably sounds more like a G-12H or a V-30. Either way it's hard to go wrong. And if it works flawlessly, at 30 years old it probably has a nice, smooth sound. It's not a high priced gamble. I'd get it and if it didn't have the tone you could probably sell it for about what you paid for it. I think a low wattage Celestion would sound great in a DR, if the Celestion route is what you're looking for.

You should grab it.....before I do!!

Seriously....most Celestions are....made in CHINA now!?

The old English-made Celestion speakers are really sweet!

Think about it.....but if you snooze....you LOSE!!

That's a ROLA Celestion.....quite old.
I have a few old pre-Celestion ROLA's at home.
Outrageously good speakers!!

Thanks for the responses guys, from what I found on google I think this might have been a kind of cheap speaker. But hey, if it's more than 30 years old for under one hundred I might as well give it a shot.

Can anyone show me a link about speaker installation? Is there soldering involved?

I wouldn't worry if it was a budget model. Most of what we know of as classic gear started out as budget models, including almost all Fender equipment and most speakers. Get it, find a clip on U-tube to learn how to solder, and see what it sounds like. I did that last year and it was no sweat.
