Iīm gettin a new toy.-update

I got a bargain price on the Behringer v-amp pro. Iīm going to try it out, to see what itīs like. Iīm trying to build a alternative rig to playing with my Twin Reverb miked up. I really like my twin, but sometimes itīs nice to have the possibility to a fast setup, and play. Especially the small and sonically challenged places we play. Iīl pick it up tomorrow and gig with it on saturday. Iīll report back to you.

Well I gigged with it yesterday. It took some tweaking, but from what I heard, itīs usable. I used the Blackface twin amp model. I had to take off a lot of bass....both in the unit itself and on the mixer. The sounds were usable. I could play the whole night, with the unit, without my toes curling up unce. Itīs not as nice a sound on stage as with my real 70īs twin, but through the PA itīs good, not hash at all, and it cuts well. The balanced outputs goes to the mixer, and the unbalanced goes to my active monitor. The sound through the monitor was also pretty bassy, and that may be because the reverb was a bit to strong(?) Iīll need more time later for experimenting in the rehersal. But all in all it has got nice sounds. A great little piece of eq, with the emphasis on the amp models, and some fx on the side. The compressor was also better than what Iīm used to from digital devices. Iīm absolutely positive, but it needs more tweaking than say a twin with a mike in front of it. Iīll probably use my rack compressor, and stop using the internal compressor.

Conclusion. Incredible value for money, but not a miracle machine. Almost as good as the real thing, but for me a very good tool for many occations. And it weighs 1.2 kg !

It looks like it is made like a tank.

VAMP Pro

I've posted several times about my little home stealth system. In that, I utilize my V-AMP ll, Korg G-3 or 20 year old Rockman. The V-AMP is an absolute bargin in terms of tones for price. I know many people do not care for the V-AMPS, but they work great for what I use them for.

Best of luck on your system. I very anxious to hear how it turns out for you.

Donīt know....

I havenīt tried the pod pro...or any other pod. I bought the v-amp pro, because of the extensive output possibilities. And the pretty sound on tap. Balanced and unbalanced lines out. Itīs dead quiet / hum/hissless, and has a pure tone on itīs own....But itīs a budget piece of equipment...and it looks "cool" with all the LEDīs up on the stage Wish I had it when i was a kid....
Seriously, Iīm a lazy guy, and I like things to be as small and easy to use as possible. I donīt want to sweat microphone placing, and drums beeing picked up by my ampīs microphone, 8 cables going back and forth etc. I save my twin for the special occations, where we have a big stage, and go on using the V-amp pro into the pa/active monitor.

and my old early 90īs Boss fc 50/fv 50 midi controller, midi volume pedal as my daily gigging tool. For now.

V-Amp

Thanks for the V-Amp posts.
I've been thinking of getting one myself.
Are you talking of V-Amp II?
What kind of price range?
Thanks

the v-amp 2

Is pretty similar to the v-amp pro. But the pro has more inputs, and two loop options, and more outputs...balanced and unbalanced stereo outputs, and the pro has analog cabinet modelling on the balanced xlr outputs...Apart from that the controls are the same. The pro is the rack mountable version, the II is the guitar body shaped one. The pro goes inside a rack flightcase, and looks generally more solid, with metal housing. For home use(if you ere not going to use a digital output facility of the PRO) the II could be good. They also have a version of the II coming with bult in expression pedal.

Itīs not a device for seeking for your tone, if you donīt know what to look for, because you have to tweak it quite a lot befor you find it. But if you already have a good idea of your sound itīs usable.
