Low wattage amps - champ 600 & 1/2watt gilmore jr.
Two birds with one stone. I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for tube combos in the new fender champ 600. It has nice tone but I would like some more breakup (distortion) with out useing a pedal.
Also thinking of building a 1/2 watt gilmore jr. kit and would like speaker suggestions for 6" and 8" speakers. Thanks telemesser |

I can comment on the Gilmore having just finished one recently. It is a great project and a very nice amp for around the house or recording. It sounds good, it's quiet and it gets pretty overdriven when cranked. It's loud for around the house. Sounds good with an OD pedal in front.
I can't help you with a speaker suggestion except to say I would put it through a 10 or 12 but that's just me. Here are some lame clips I did but it will give you the basic idea. If you don't want to build one I'm thinking about selling mine to fund another DIY amp excursion. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/defa...?bandID=415528
