5f2a luv?

Just got one from mike marsh, was going to get a kit but this one on the bay was like $100 more so I pulled the trigger. Man this sounds really good. I sold my lil dawg 5e3 because it was really to much volume for my home use. This 5f2a is 6 watts. After getting the GA-5 I knew I needs less watts to get the sound I wanted for home use. Don't get me wrong the lil dawg is a great amp but even at 12 watts my ears were hurting and the wife was B____ching.
Not that I really care about that it was really ears hurting that made m sell it. Just Got to lacquer it up and maybe try a new speaker but the tone of the stock jensen c10r is not bad at all. Like the little dawg at idle it very quiet with single coils. I luv tweed tone!!!

very nice Mr. Bent

Just wondering if you have the same speaker in there. I am thinking of trying the weber 10a125 when I get so more funds.

I've got a 5F2A Li'l Dawg, with 15 watt trannies and an 8 ohm output - I'll build a cab and stick in a Weber 12F150. Gonna swap the IC filter caps for F&Ts or Atoms, and the Mallory couplers for Jupitors. This amp can take 6V6 or 6L6 tubes and is louder and has more clean headroom than a typical 5F1 circuit.

Is that yellow cap on what looks like the back of the fuse and connected to the chassis, a "death cap"?

You might want to remove that.

I have a Marsh 5F2A that I bought last year used and it's a killer little amp with the alnico Sig 10A in there. Warm and crunchy sounding. I ended up swapping it for a ceramic Sig 10S, and it sounds great there too-- more reedy & steely sounding. For crunch without pedals, the alnico Sig 10A is the way to go..

great sounding, lightweight and loud little amp!
