Princeton Reverb Cabinet
Does anyone have a recommendation for a PR cab? My 78 is made of MDF and is heavy for it's size. It has a 10" baffle that cannot be removed. I'd like to get a pine cab with 2 seperate interchangeable baffles (for a 10 and for a 12" speaker) and maybe a couple inches taller to accomodate the 12. Thanks.

Try JD Newell.
He makes really nice cabinets with a couple of choices of cosmetics, and they have removable baffles. I know that he makes the PR cabinet with a 10" or 12" baffle. I'm sure he would build you one with a spare baffle in the extra size. If I remember correctly the 12" cabinet cost my buddy about $225 shipped to his door. |

I spoke with JD over the phone to save $ I think I'll just get the cab with a 12" baffle. I can always use my Princeton cab if I want to use the 10" speaker. Now, what speaker. I'm partial to Emi Legends so I guess a 1258 would be the one to get. What are y'all using?

I recently went through the same dilemma and went with a JD Newell cab with 12" baffle for my 73 PR.
Top quality construction. The cab is 2" taller and resonates well with my Reverend All Tone 1250 speaker.

Or check out Allen Amps cabinets....
http://www.allenamps.com He will apparently make them in head, 1x12,1x15,2x8 and 4x8 configurations... go wild! By the way, I am running my SFPR with a 1x15 in the extension speaker output..... we're talking girth! Acually, I am thinking of getting a Weber Z-Matcher box so I can mix and match different cabs with my amps. I am having a 2x10 4-ohm cabinet made to use with the SFPR and Champ I have. But with the Z-Matcher, I could potentially run my Champ on the 8-ohm 1x15 or run the SFPR as a 3x10 or even a 1x15+2x10 combo with extension!

I ordered a 1 x 12 cab in black tolex and silver grill. I was gonna doll it up in Blonde and Oxblood but I still want to use the original cab with the 10. And it's kind of a PITA to find a repro black or brown faceplate that looks good with that color combo. I've searched the net and found I'd be better off just using the Silverface faceplate.
