Anyone try a Sansamp into a Crate Powerblock?

Just a thought, could be a poor mans way of getting a trademark 150!

I hope you get some answers on this from those who know a lot more than me. Been itching to try something like this myself.

It has always seemed to me that this would be a great idea for a good-sounding lightweight outfit; a good modeling front end into a super-clean SS power amp into maybe a Jensen Neo speaker.

Seems like a can't miss to me. Isn't this the same concept Tech 21's complete combo's are based on? As well as the Award-Session stuff (wish they were available here!). Even the Line 6 combo's seem to use this platform.

I'm guessing the whole thing would hinge on how convincing the front end was and how clean the SS power amp portion was.

Can't wait to hear what others say.

Never had/used the sansamp, but use the Behringer clone (V-Tone GDI-21) of the sansamp that you're talking about.

I'll get someone throwing a beer bottle at me for saying this, but on some of the settings it was extremely hard to tell that I wasn't playing into an over-driven tube amp. (And I'm a tube-friendly guy.) I've had similar results running straight into the 4-track, no amp at all.

One caveat: again, I can't speak for the sansamp, but the behringer was so noisy (hum, hiss, morse code, you name it) with single coils that it was unusable. Humbuckers and all was good. I wish they'd housed it in metal.

I've gigged with a Yamaha Magic Stomp into a PowerBlock, and it worked very well!

Cheers, Tim

No, but I have used a Tri-AC straight to the PA with good results. I can't see you having a problem with this setup.
