please recommend a speaker

i recently picked up a 62-63 model Gibson Discoverer GA-8T. This is a 15 Watt amp with tremolo. Right now the amp is getting serviced. The tech said the speaker in the amp is original and has an alnico magnet. he said it is a good speaker but also added that if i want to increase the amps volume...perhaps even double it... i might consider putting a new, more efficient speaker in the amp. he said something with a sensitivity of 100db would be preferred.

my goal is for this amp to be as loud as possible, and hopefully, clean all the way up the dial. the amp tech said this is no problem because this particular model and year amp is designed to not break up.

what sort of speaker would you all recommend for this amp ?

Celestion Gold. I was going to say a Celestion Blue (100 db, 15 watts) until I read that you wanted as much clean headroom as possible. The Gold is also 100 db, I believe, but should give you more headroom since it handles more power.

Check out the Eminence Legend line of speakers, inexpensive, great sounding, and some models with high dB ratings!

Now this might not be applicable, but I just had a new speaker cab flown in last week and I'm blown away with the lush sound. Motion Sound rotary speaker SRV-212. It has 2 12 inch emminence screaming eagles. Can be played spinning or stopped like a regular speaker cab. I can't turn her off, sounds way better than any roto pedal I have ever heard; I feel the sound waves.

Here's what really surprised me. I have a TRRI custom 15, hate that fender amp, was ready to dump cheap, haven't kicked the twin reverb on in over a year. I have a 35 Bruno Cowtipper with G12H30's and my amp searchin is now over; boy that cowtipper is high class, sounds way better than an old 60's vibrolux reverb. The Rotary speaker sounds better thru TRRI than Cowtipper?????? Is the reason for this the EFFICIENCY of SCREAMING EAGLES & INCREASED WATTAGE ON TRRI?
