Amp service by mail

I seem to remember reading some ads in Vintage Guitar years ago offering tube amp service by mail: where you could ship just your amp chassis to them and they could do the cap job, blackface or whatever you need. Is that a common thing, has anyone done that, and what was your experience? Who offers that type of service on vintage fender amps?

I assume that if you need to reuse your tubes, you'd have to send them along too, for correct biasing.

Just about any tech will provide this service. The best thing to do is to find one you can drive too.

amp service

that can be done, but shipping can add up and it's better to deal with someone in person so you can hear the results IMO.
I'd try to find a local tech, there has to be one in your area somewhere.
I'd post an amp tech wanted ad first, and try asking on the Weber VST BB's too.
