ceramic disk capacitors/orange drops

can orange drop polypropylene film caps. be used in the same application as a ceramic disk cap in?

for example, replacing the ceramic disk capacitor that runs with the high pass 1m resistor coming off the vol pot in the GA-5 with an orange drop polypropylene film cap?

thanks.

Orange Drops are not made in values as low as 22pF. If you want to do better than that ceramic disk, you'll want silver mica.

my friend who did the jumper of the trinity mods insisted in putting this big orange cap in place of the ceramic 22pf. this orange cap reads .027 10% 6PS-S27

I thought it was wrong, it looked to me like it was to big to be there but i didn't want to hurt his feelings because he said he would change it for me if i didn't like the orange cap.

It doesn't sound bad with this orange cap, but i want him to put back the original 22pf unless you can tell me if its ok.

sorry for the dumb questions

.027uF is much larger than 22pF. 22pF = .000022uF

.027uF is essentially the same as the two .022uF coupling caps used in the amp. In that place, it is pretty much acting the same as a straight wire.

It's not hurting anything, but again, you might as well just replace the cap and resistor with a straight wire, which is one of the mods.

The only real dumb questions are the ones that don't get asked...
