Valco Supro S6422TR
Someone gave me a Valco Supro S6422TR for free. It is in fair condition, including NOS Mullards and Mallory caps. I am going to clean her up and re-wire the 2 prong AC chord to a grounded cable. She sounds pretty good, bright with early breakup. (nothing as good as my Fender Super) The 6V6 may be under-biased as the breakup seems early.
Does anyone one the approx value of this amp? I am guessing about $300-400 It look like 1965 issue based on the Valco lineup. Would you recommend recapping the amp or just doing a general cleanup to put her on the Ebay block? Any recommendations would be helpful as Supro amps are not well documented. Thanks. |

Here's what I would do: Take it to a tech for a good going over. Probably needs caps. Some of those amps, with a few component swaps, turn out great.
I have an old Supro that I just got back from my tech and it's killer. So I'd get it tuned up and I'd keep it. It's a great amp. |
