AC15?

I have 3 amps a 30 watt Masters TVA 30 which I instinctively knew was pretty darn good. Then the recent addtion of a 5E3 based 25watt build and lastly an AC15 I picked up the day before I finished the new build - didnt need it but just always thought I should have an AC15. Well, firstly the AC15 has been played the grand total of about 15 minutes - 5 minutes before tonight.

I went to the store and bought a Morley ABY seleector/combiner and first plugged in what I thought would be a grail of tone with the D'Luxe and the AC15 - but didnt enjoy the AC15 at all and couldnt seem to get it to sound good and full. Turned it off and plugged in the Master TVA30 which is an EL84 amp too. But here's what's funny: It sounds almost exactly like my Lil Dawg D'Luxe - just ever so slightly different enough to be fantastic in combination with each other. But I have to say I was shocked at how close they were in tonal palette - no wonder I love my new Frankentweed EPI-JR cab turned Lil Dawg D'Luxe (at least the chassis is) cuz I love the Masters too.

Tomorrow I will put the Masters on total clean setting as tonight I had it pre-set to a dirtier tone like a 5E3 would be. I will use the clean headroom available in the Masters and use the 5E3 for dirt which is just what I had in mind originally anyway.

I'm really appreciating the TVA 30 like never before after tonight. I wrote an epic tune tonight that was just so far out different than anything I would usually do. Can't wait to record it and play it for you all. I also bought a RolandCD-2e SD/CD Recorder so that will soon be possible. Also putting the AC15 on the block as I don't need it whatsoever, and it won't be fitting in my plans short, or long-term. Maybe I will build an 18 watt Marshall clone with the money from the ac15.
